September Archive 200820th September 2008
One lay beat but the rest disappointed, onwards and upwards.
LAY
1.25 - Catterick - CHAMBERS - 2.68
Didn't show alot when 5th on debut and only has 3L on 9th placing Point Of Light who is sure to be better suited here today. Chambers looked very one paced on that occasion and is worth opposing at a skinny price.
BET
4.20 - Newbury - CONTROL ZONE - 19.5 (W) 5.7 (P)
Reports suggest that this horse has been wokring with runaway Kempton winner Crowded House of late and knows it's job on debut. Spencer rides and either the spies have got it wrong or the layers have, I'll take a chance.
Good Luck with your punting today. 19th September 2008
Well we promised 2 lays today and 2 bets so here we are.
LAYS
3.40 - Newmarket - NEHAAM - 4.6
A tough maiden for Nehaam to debut in and whilst John Gosden's fillies have been debuting well this season, his colts have been needing the run. Bred to be better suited by longer trips he is worth opposing today.
2.20 - Ayr - ROYAL SOCIETY - 4.5
Mark Johnston's horses generally come on for there first runs and this one faces the troublesome task of running agianst three experienced rivals on testing ground. Very American bred he is worth taking on.
BETS
4.05 - Ayr - ANGLEZARKE - 2.8
Would be getting 1lb off its nearest rival if they met in a handicap and receives 5lb here so has to be considered well treated. Also worth nothing this horses close 2nd in a Group 2 last week was a cracking effort which will make him very hard to beat here.
8.20 - Wolverhampton - GIRL OF PANGAEA - 2.32
Decent sort of Ed Dunlop's who needed the run by the looks of things at Great Leigh's last time. Looks to have been found a soft opening today and can wrap us up a good day.
Good Luck with your punting today. 18th September 2008
Another winning bet and another losing lay, today's racing is tricky with no advice. back tomorrow with 2 bets and 2 lays !!
Good luck on your punting today; 17th September 2008
A winning bet at 6/4 and a losing lay at 3/1 gave us a great day yesterday.
LAY
2.55 - Sandown - BACK IN THE RED - 5.2
A fair sprinter on his day but not greatly drawn here and doesn't find as much for pressure as he used to. Unlikely to get an easy time up front today and worth opposing around 4/1.
BET
4.05 - Sandown - FOUR WINDS - 3.05 (W)
Met a tarter on debut behind Delegator and stayed on nicely in 3rd. Reports from the gallops suggest he has improved at home since and reported as impressing on Saturday with two experienced juveniles. Spencer one of the better riders at this track and should take all the beating here.
Good luck on your punting today; 16th September 2008
A disappointing return yesterday.
LAY
4.10 - Yarmouth - HOH MIKE - 4.7
A disappointing sprinter this season and appeared to look unsuited by his ridiculous hold up tactics of late. Today's 6f has never suited him in the past and the lack of early pace here can count against him.
BET
4.20 - Lingfield - PRESCRIPTION - 2.5 (W)
Disappointing failure on debut but improved nicely to win comfortably 2nd time out. Since improved at home and work with Starlit Sands suggests she could be a blot on the handicap today. Yard in good form and rider more than capable so a noted strong bet for us this afternoon.
Good luck on your punting today; 15th September 2008
After a weeks holiday I'm back !!!
When I left you last we gave you a cracking 9/4 winner and today we're back to bring you the latest top bet and lay of the day.
LAY
4.30 - Leicester - FACTOTUM - 2.96
2.96 about a horse that has been beaten 5 racecoruse appearences and been placed on four of them does start to bed questions. Factotum has been weak in the betting markets on his last two runs but most noticeable is that even the handicap guru of Luca Cumani has given up with the handicapper with this one. He doesn't look able to finsih his races and has disappointed on soft ground in the past. At just under 2/1 I'm keen to take him on once more.
BET
4.00 - Leicester - ARTSU - 14.5 (W) - 4.3 (P)
It's a trappy soft ground 6f handicap but for me there is still more to come from runaway Haydock winner Artsu. He was 4th last time at Ripon and he may have hung a bit that day but for me racing down the centre of the track didn't suit him. Down another lb to 75, I think he is interesting in what looks a drop in class. the booking of Jamie Spencer speaks volumes for me, and given the yard look in top form at present, I believe this 14/1 shot is overpriced and can reward us each way today.
Good luck on your punting today; 8th September 2008
We're off on a weeks holiday after today but I would like to pass on strong words for Mr Hitchens in the 5.20 at Folkestone. The Brian Meehan trained 3yo is expected to complete the hat trick today and rates a solid Win bet at 3.85b. 7th September 2008
There is no bets today. 6th September 2008
Well yesterday's lay was an abandoned meeting and our bet was collared close home.
Today the racing is saturated just like the ground but I'm keen to Lay this Elnwin in the 2.20 at Kempton. A comfortable winner at Newmarket you just don't know how it will handle the twisty bends of Kempton and the artificial surface, and at 2.56 I'm prepared to go against him today.
My Bet of the day comes in the 4.00 at Kempton today and I think we will see an exciting 2yo in the shape of Ashram. Trading at 2.72 I think the easy Newmarket winner is a big price and I was impressed with him on debut. Reports from Lambourn suggest he has been working very well at home with Layer Cake and he should be collecting here before heading to the Dewhurst.
Good luck on your punting today; 5th September 2008
Well our Lay on Tuesday was turned over and having had 2 days of no bets we have a Bet and a Lay today.
Our Lay runs in the 2.30 at Catterick and I'm keen to oppose Mujaba at 2.38. Kevin Ryan's runner looks a short runner to me and doesn't find alot in the final 100yds of a race. He faces a couple who will improve for the slower ground today and I feel he will fill the bridesmaid's role once more.
My Bet today comes in the 7.50 at Kempton and David Lanigan's debutante Say No Now has been showing all the right signs on the gallops in Newmarket. An impressive sort she looks very useful at home and at odds of 2.78 she appeals as a solid win bet on debut.
Good luck on your punting today; 4th September 2008

There are no selections today. 2nd September 2008
The rain is pouring down at Goodwood and that will mean small fields. On a quiet days racing I can’t find any bets but we do have a Lay today. Jeremy Noseda’s High Alert in the 3.10 must be opposed. Having looked a shade quirky last time he really didn’t look a strong finisher and on testing conditions over a mile his stamina faces major doubts. Trading at 4.8 at the moment he is too short and the form of both his races are not working out well. Horses with headgear don’t have a very good record at Goodwood and I’m keen to take him on. 1st September 2008
